Gamemodes

There are 9 game modes in Payback 2 (Story mode and Multiplayer don't count in this category).

This is the main page; for detailed info click the links below!

Brawl

Brawl is the most basic, Free-For-All game mode where the players must kill each other for points.

Brawl has a time limit and a score limit. If a player reaches a score limit by killing enough enemies, they will win. If the time runs out, the player with most points wins. If you kill another player, you gain 1 point. If you commit suicide, you lose 1 point. You do not lose points for getting killed by another player.

In brawl modes, you are able to use all types of weapons and vehicles. When you die, you respawn in a random location, close to other players, and if the setting specified, a vehicle will appear with the player inside it. This results in a huge bloodbath as all players are slowly concentrated into one place. Temporary spawn invincibility is provided.

Auto turrets are especially valuable in Brawl modes as they can automatically attack nearby enemies for extra damage and potential points. However, they can harm the user, and easy to destroy.

Gang Warfare

The second mode is Gang Warfare, Gang Warfare is similar to the mode "Brawl" the difference is you are on teams, Blue and Red. Your team has to get as many kills as possible, if you suicide or kill your own team you lose points. The way to win is to get the most kills and your team must win. Gang Warfare is described as "Help your gang to get the most kills to win. Points are lost for committing suicide." and "Kill red, defend blue"

If you like Brawl you will probably enjoy Gang Warfare, as they are similar. The difference between Brawl and Gang Warfare is that with Brawl there are no teams and you have to fight by yourself, but with Gang Warfare you are on a team. So if you love attacking people but want to fight back to back with other people then Gang Warfare is right for you. If you want a bit more protection from teammates or you don't want to have as many enemies then Gang Warfare is right for you. Gang Warfare matches last for either 1 minute, 3 minutes or 5 minutes just like Brawl. Gang Warfare is a battle game.

Capture The Swag

The third mode is Capture the Swag, pretty much rhymes with capture the flag and literally they are the same. In this mode all players much collect the swag from their opponent's base and deliver it to their own base whist defending from the enemy from stealing the swag. Each successful delivery contributes to the score by one, another swag will spawn in supplement to the stolen one. Once a team reaches a target score, the game automatically ends with that team as winner. If a swag carrier is killed, the swag is automatically returned to it's respective base on it's own. Capture the Swag is described as "Take your rival's swag to your base to score."

Do you have what it takes to become a professional thief? That, my friend, is what Capture the Swag is about. If you like team games, then this is another fun team game. This game mode is very unique. In Capture the swag you are on teams of 8 each. Your team must steal the enemy teams swag. Everyone on both teams have the exact same weapons. When you are playing Capture the Swag auto turrets come in very handy because you and all your teammates can put the auto turrets around your swag which makes it very hard to steal the swag or simply steal vehicles from the streets to make a giant roadblock which makes intruders an easy target. Moving in big groups makes it easier to steal the swag as there are so many of you and your group is hard to kill all at once. If you are in a big team it is a good idea to launch an attack on the enemy team at their own base or just outside their base, so while your team is having a big battle one of your team members grabs the swag and makes a dash for your own teams base to get a point.

Due to a glitch, the RC Car, if deployed from a Swag carrier's vehicle, can deliver the Swag, so don't get caught off-guard, also, look out for helicopters, always leave some players to guard your base so they can jack the helicopter and prevent the enemy from scoring. Plant a remote bomb will pretty much be helpful to stop a chopper. Swag can be collected on all land vehicles besides the RC Car so it's better to shoot every intruder o in sight.

Kingpin

The fourth mode is Kingpin, with kingpin you have to get in to a certain zone. When you are in this zone you will gain points, If you are the only person in the zone you will get double points. There are no teams. When you get in the zone other players will try and kill you, when you die you respawn outside the zone and will stop getting points until you get back in the zone. If no one occupies the zone, The zone will be colored green, If there is just you in the zone it will be colored blue. If there are enemies in the zone it will be colored red. If no one gets in to the zone after a certain amount of time, The zone will change places and no one will get any points from being in the zone as no one was in the zone. The way to win is to gain a certain amount of points. Kingpin is probably the hardest most to describe using words. Kingpin is described as "Score by being inside the marked zone. Earn double points if you're the only player in the zone."

Do you know your way around the streets? Can you calculate the quickest route from point a to b in your head quickly? If so this is the mode you you. In Kingpin you have to get in a zone as fast as possible. You will then fight to the death for the zone. Winning requires a certain amount of points which I think ranchers from about 2-20 points. If you can it is a good strategy to get in a fast car/helicopter to travel to the marked zone as quick as possible.

A crown is displayed in the hud along with the dots and a decreasing bar, color depends on aforementioned details. If you are dominating the zone you get one point for a dot disappearing. If they all disappeared the zone will be shifted.

Conquest

The fifth mode is Conquest, In conquest you are on teams, blue and red. Both team start with a zone of their colour and the whole team starts in their own zone. You must control zones, the more zones you control the more points your team will get. There are a certain amount of zones. As one team gets points the other team loses those points. Both teams start off with 50 points each. The winning team is the first team to get to 100 points, as they have stolen the 50 points off the other team and since they already had 50 points they then have 100 points, "This is basic math people, Not rocket science". This mode is described as "Control zones to steal points from the enemy. Win by stealing all your rival's points".

Conquest sounds like a game the Julius Caesar would play. Agree would you not? (Yoda style). Conquest is a game of strategy. You on in teams of 8 and you have to carefully plan your strategy, the problem is you have no control over the al players and you can't communicate with the real players. Never the less you can still win. Conquest in groups works well as you can storm a zone as a large group. Blue zones are zones your team occupies and therefore the blue zones bring in points for you. Green zones are zones that no team currently occupies. Red Zones are zones your enemy owns. When you are capturing a zone off the enemy team you have to have one more person then the enemy your capturing it off, for example if you were in a red zone by yourself you would start to capture that zone, However if a member from the enemy team walked in to the zone you were capturing, you capture would stop until the enemy was killed. But if you and one of your teammates were capturing an enemy zone and a member of the enemy walk in, you and your team mate would still continue capturing the zone as there in an extra person from your team in the zone.

Landing a helicopter directly on a zone will cause the capture process to be interrupted right when it starts in an endless loop, to fix this issue exit and re-enter the chopper. Strangely, RC Cars can also capture zones on their own.

You need to neutralize a zone if it's in the hands of the opponents, so capturing an enemy zone is two times longer than capturing a neutral zone.

Race

The sixth mode is Race, With a race you are all get given the same vehicle. The way to win is to be the first person to complete a certain amount of laps in your vehicle. The mode race is described as "First to complete the specified number of laps wins."

Have you got what it takes to be a Lewis Hamilton? Race mode is very straightforward. Much like a sprint only longer. A Race is an event where you proof your tactical driving skills. There are no teams and you have to try and attack people while you are racing. You all have the same weapons. You have to be the first complete a certain amount of laps, 1-4 laps in the fastest time. The problem is if you win the cops will arrest you for careless driving, XD.

Note that races/sprints/knockouts will still have some traffic so if the player's car get's too damage/falls too much behind grab a fast car like the XR500 as all of them does not restricts you from hanging vehicles and you can even collect checkpoints on foot!

Knockout

The eighth mode is Knockout, In a knockout it is a bit like a race and sprint, you have to try and stay in the front while following a fixed race course. Every few seconds the person in last place will be eliminated from the race, until there is only one player left, that means the last player left wins. Knockout is described as "The player in the last place is explosively eliminated each time the clock hits zero." A circle surrounding the player will gradually shrink and redden when a contestant is about to be eliminated.

Would you be good at the Hunger Games? Survival of the fittest this mode basically is. In knockout there is no teams. You have to kill to survive, Because if you kill someone they have to respawn and while they are resawing the other players pass them and then suddenly "BOOM" they are eliminated. You must try at all cost to stay out of last place. The knockout times range from about 5 seconds to about 16 seconds. Knockouts are like a race but if you crash you lose so be careful while driving.

Note that races/sprints/knockouts will still have some traffic so if the player's car get's too damage/falls too much behind grab a fast car like the XR500 as all of them does not restricts you from hanging vehicles and you can even collect checkpoints on foot!

Rampage

The ninth mode is Rampage, rampage can only be played in single player rampage is when you are given different missions which you must complete in a certain amount of time. Rampage is described as "Explore the city, get points by doing missions, or just wreck havoc. Single player only."

Are you a serial killer who can cause huge damage to a city? In this mode you have to go on a "Rampage", While you are on a rampage don't be surprised if you have about all the police in the city chasing after you(Getting the SWAT,military called is a common condition). If you do to much damage and kill to many people they will call in the military and you are most likely going to die(the multiplier resets but no the score if you are playing in custom ). The odds are never in your favor. It you vs all the police in the city and military tanks. If you ain't like Multiplayer then this is the mode for you, Because you don't have to play with other real people on Multiplayer and you get to kill all people and wreck havoc as much as you desires, What could be better?
